Last week our Nodi team were lucky enough to spend the day with Kristy Von Minden, founder of Mind Bright. Kristy took us through a mindfulness workshop, in which we have all taken away huge amounts of inspiration, knowledge and strategies to implement a more mindfulness approach in our everyday lives.
Kristy’s journey which lead her to creating and founding Mind Bright is fascinating and one we want to share as it is relatable to many.
Mind Bright’s Story
After 15 years in the corporate communications industry, working with some of the world’s biggest brands, Kristy saw first-hand the negative impact the long hours, relentless rush and constant connectedness had on herself and the most highly motivated, intelligent and capable individuals.
Kristy loved her job. She mentions no project seemed too big, night in the office too late or deadline too pressing. After undergoing back surgery then straight back to our world of go, go, go, Kristy found herself years later still experiencing chronic back pain, unable to heal due to the constant stress she was feeling every day.
"My journey to recovery saw me uncover an unexpected passion for neuroscience, mindfulness, meditation and all things wellness.
Her desire to not only understand why we are more stressed now than ever before, but to be a part of the solution with a fresh new approach, drove her to launch Mind Bright in 2017.
With her extensive corporate background and management experience, Kristy intimately understands the stressors and pressures of the modern work place, both from a management and from an employee perspective.
Kristy is a champion of positive change for workplace culture and employee care and believes there needs to be a fundamental shift in the way we work, live and look after ourselves."
"Our brains are our most precious resource today and so we need to ensure wellness is our top priority above all else," she says.
We explore our Physical Environment and how it impacts the way we feel
At our workshop, we discussed and explored the science of stress, stress in the workplace, digital health, creating a wellness toolkit and our physical environment.
The way people respond and interact with their physical environment is a huge one for us at Nodi. We know and believe the importance of what is in your home or everyday surroundings to have a direct impact on your health and well-being. We loved being able to explore this further with Kristy and even learn more about how Kristy connects with our Nodi Rugs in her own home.
'I’m all about shoes off as much as possible when we are at the beach or on the grass so that we can connect our feet to nature which helps us to feel calm, present and grounded. Now that we have our Nodi Rugs I absolutely get our shoes and socks off as much in doors too given they are all natural and feel so great.’
