There is so much we love about Ali, owner of Tessuti, a treasure trove of homeware on Auckland’s, Jervois Road. Ali has an eye for layering within the home and detail in style that is so distinctly hers - we love the way she layers our rugs in her home, and feel honoured to see the rugs feature throughout her home in the latest issue of Homestyle magazine.
When Ali describes her interior style, she mentions collecting objects and pieces that inspire her and feel authentic. When we asked Ali why she opted for Nodi Rugs in her home she told us ‘I love the handmade nature of Nodi rugs. The feeling of the makers hands, and the organic process. For me it is about comfort, connection and good design’.
We feel so lucky to have a retailer and a friend that really gets Nodi and what we are about.
‘Life is enriched by the small, good decisions we make every day, and by consuming with the very same care that things were created with – so make choices that make sense in your head and sit well in your heart. Select items that you connect to, with stories you love.’
Ali’s home really speaks of finding pieces that you love and believe in. The home being a reflection of you, your journey and what you have collected along the way. Ali has a handful of Nodi rugs, One from previous collection 'Organic Lines' in her home office, the Braided Jute, a Nodi staple, in the living room and a rug from our new 2018 winter collection, The Tasseled Wool in Charcoal. It shows the beauty of an interior when you invest in the pieces you love and slowly build your home over time. Layering the home with pieces that reflect you, you begin to get depth and tell a story of you.
‘I’m a very tactile person so texture is very important to me, I like to layer it, from the floor up! I enjoy having rugs with different textures and colours.
I chose the Tasselled Wool rug in Charcoal for the living room as I wanted warmth underfoot and something reasonably hardy, it being a higher traffic area. Also, I have Monty, and wool tends to repel odour. The colour is rich and warm, and the tassels playful, keeping things feeling casual and family friendly.
The Braided Jute rug in Natural is in the front north facing lounge room. This room gets a lot of light all year round and I wanted something very natural and earthy to reflect this. It invites you into the space and is soft underfoot - perfect for kicking your shoes off and sitting on the floor in the sun.’
Pets love our Jute rugs and we love seeing Monty enjoying a moment on the Braided Jute.
